SIEDRÉS GALATAPORT STORE

Facing the historic peninsula and the Bosphorus, the interior design of the store provides a contemporary setting to the collections on display, while standing as a testament to the location's past (the historic harbor.) Surfaces are rendered in soft, monochrome colors and minimalist display systems serve as a calm backdrop that allow the bold colours and patterns in the brand's collections to take center stage. Throughout the store, the balance of warm and cool tones, diverse materials and textures create an engaging environment, while the overall result in its pared-back simplicity plays a supporting role to the view.

The custom hanging system, a fixed iron clothes rail that runs along the store's right side wall allows the garments to float in the space. The clothes rail coils like a serpent towards the storefront and forms the window display. In stark yet warming contrast, the opposite wall is covered with trunk-inspired display and storage units in solid wood, referencing the luggages used for extended trips by steamships back in the day.

One of the main design features of the store is the changing cabin, designed as a cylindrical volume that interrupts the rectangular layout. Resembling a silo, the cabin was inspired by the structural steel cylinder service core in Jean Prouvé's demountable house prototype, Maison Les Jours Meilleurs (Better Days House, 1956). Inside the store, the cabin's striking green surface provides an accent of color against the neutral palette.
